Will the Scout Update Have Special Items for All Classes?
1. The February 16th patch changed the wording on each Class Loadout Menu:
Old Wording: "No special items for (class) exist yet" New Wording: "No special items for (class) have been acquired yet" In the past, it was easy to tell which classes could acquire weapons and which classes didn't have any to get. With yesterday's wording change, it is no longer clear which classes can earn weapons and which can't. This isn't a problem if they are soon adding weapons for all classes. 2. Robin Walker said in an email last year that new non-locked weapons would be added (posted at Gameriot): Quote:
3. Voice Files found in the French and Russian GCF files have tons of voice responses about new weapons (more than you would need for 3 unlocks per class). *Voice files found in the English files now contain heavy responses about Weapons and Awards, and Scout responses about Awards. Listen to some of them here (mediafire download) Here are some of the actual English responses: Quote:

The most complete list of heavy voice translations is here. The most complete list of Sniper translations is here. Quote:
4. Coding was discovered for random weapon generation: Quote:

I don't know what kind of items these might be, how they might be "acquired," or if they might be linked to the "very different new gamemode" mentioned in the Escapist article. The Random Weapon Drop theory has been around for a long time. We first heard about upgradeable dispensers and teleporters in April, 2008. Those didn't enter the game until December, 2008. The voice responses and coding for new weapons appeared last summer, so we might see these changes soon, unless they got scrapped. Last edited by misterdevious : 04-20-2009 at 06:09 PM. |

Very possible. It would add so much more replay value (not that it doesn't have enough already!)
I'd love a feature like that. |

They did say they're adding a new game mode, right? Maybe it'll have something related to all this...

You know what I think.
I think we should stop assuming things and wait until VAVLe release stuff. But that's just my opinion. |

I don't believe a word of it. Not a word.

It's plausible that this has to do with the new game mode, but we don't know that it's coming with the Scout update.

#1 is definitely the most convincing here.

If they make new weapons now then they will be pick-upable and have uses related to the new game modes. Maybe what each class actually recieves and how they look will vary, but it's very plausible.
An example would be the "Assasinator", in which this weapon is required to be able to kill the objective MVP. No other class weapon can do it. How the Assasinator looks could depend on the class, like the Heavies Assasinator would be some varient of the Minigun that has specail effect (bullets pass through all other opposing players, to go through them and hit the MVP), or the Snipers being an ultra-long but long to reload sniper rifle. Same functions, different methods. Last edited by Skillmore : 02-17-2009 at 11:33 AM. |

This is the stupidest theory I've ever...
Oh wait, no it's not. Wow OP, I'm impressed. I was expecting some kind of 19th something or other but this makes lots of sense. Good on ya. |
