It's your CPU bottlenecking... there is nothing you can do I'm afraid.

You can either buy a new CPU which would mean new Mobo and RAM also. Or just get a new PC.

I explained here why a P4 @ 2.80GHz+ won't run CSS anymore and the requirements need bumping up.

And your case illustrates my point, perfectly.

i don't understand it. shouldn't the p4 run better than a multicore computer since it doesn't support multicores?

didn't think you could get bottlenecked with one processor

Technically your computer should be able to run it, but since its release, the system specs have gone up a little =[ Have you tried the low fps config?

You should do some research on your motherboard.. see if it supports a P4 @ around 3.4 or 3.6GHz which you can buy REAL CHEAP.

Or better yet, go into your BIOS and see if you can overclock slightly.

I'm currently playing on a P4 with 2GB RAM and Nvidia 7300. Getting about 60-70 FPS. And don't lag as much if I got other applications closed. I play 800x600 used DX level 81 and the -heapsize (half of 2GB) launch command and the Casey config.

I had around 90-ish steady fps in d2 servers with
amd 3500+ ~2.2GHz
1 Gig ram
Radeon x550
and 640*480 -caseys config -dxlevel 80
But, that was years ago...

I really don't understand how people are getting 60-70 fps on P4s! On my old P4 (and 8600 GT, 2 GB ram) I COULD NOT get over 30 fps no matter how many tweaks I tried.

I got an awesome quad core now, and I get 80-130 fps average. So maybe thats your solution.

Really? I still have my old 3.0ghz P4 with 2GB of RAM and an Radeon HD 4670. I can run this game 80+ FPS. Not only this game, but I can easily run Crysis at high with 50+ FPS.

ROFL.. I had a P4 @ 3.0GHz with a X1600XT and there was no way in hell I could get over 40FPS in a 20 man servers unless I faced the sky and stayed in a closed off corner.

I'm calling BS.
