Hunting riffle + Boomer = New strategy?

A friend brought this up. What if you could use the hunting riffle to headshot a Boomer preventing it from exploding. This would add some new strategy for fighting the Boomer and give a new use to the hunting riffle.

What do you think?

Wouldn't a headshot still make him explode?

sorry man but no matter where you shoot the boomer he goes boom but you could use the hunting rifle to take him out from a safe distance but thats only if the boomer isn't to smart and thinks he can charge at the survivors and not go to a spot where the survivors have to go and w8 for them like a smart person

Well if you assume the bulk of the Boomers bile is in his stomach, then a headshot could stop it.

I dont think youre quite getting what Im saying. I know full well this isnt a current tactic, its a what if question. Most weapons can take out a Boomer from a distance sine hes pretty weak.
