Why Steam sucks

Okay - I tried to log in to a game that I paid £34.99 for only to be told that the Steam servers were too busy - please try in a few minutes

Ummmm - No - I've paid for this legal copy of the game - let me play it you XXXXXX's

This is not good and I am sure that it's not legal?

EDIT = Oh and BTW - When you want to download an update (Which I have not requested BTW !!! ) have you not heard of PtP networking and Broadband? - Why am I get only 73kbps download (when no other apps are connected to the Net)?

GRRRRR - Get it right or I'm not going ot buy any games that even mention Steam

Did you know that you can choose what server to download from?
If one server is slow at any moment, just pick another one.

You can do this from the options / downloads window in steam.

Hope it helps

Steam is pretty awesome. DoW II demo downloaded at 1.2 MB/s and the actual game came down at 1.6 MB/s.

Patches took just a few minutes. Try a different download server??

I disagree. Steam sucks and we always have problems with it.

Steam is amazing, I've been using it for years as well.

I had problems downloading the patch yesterday, but as more people get it the download servers will clear out. If you'd just be patient for a few hours, at most a day, you'd be fine.

And 'we' would be who?

All of my friends and me never had any problems with steam...

I guess steam just treats Americans better, so it sucks to be European or possible Canadian, but on the other hand it's been great to me. What do you all think of that?

I am from brazil and it works quite well here. My internet is of 2Mbits only, but steam uses all of it when downloadind? Usually at 240kb/s.

It appears that it either sucks balls or when it works, its absolute win.

So far Ive got quite a bit of problems with it. I payed money for a game on a disk and still requires steam to play it. Why?! I buy the games on a disk so I dont have to be dependant on a (for me) unstable service like steam to play my games. Of course, this wouldnt be a big deal for me if steam actually let me play the game. But nooo, seriously, half of the time that I wanna play a game that requires steam it simply doesnt work.

Should you guys be complaining on the thread dedicated to solving steam related problems, and discus Dawn of War instead?

Steam is a form of DRM, and imo, a better one than things like Securom. They use Steam because it's a large, effective platform for delivering content, and it allows them to restrict their games to only one user via Steam account.
