Red face Why does Crysis Wars try to install crapware?

I noticed upon starting Warhead, it tries to install some crapware steam community clone called Gamespy Comrade, it also tries to install an out-of-date .NET Framework just so that crapware can run properly, why do developers feel the need to bombard you with useless crap that you won't use? I also noticed alot of the games these days will try to install the latest DirectX when started - even if you already have the absolute latest version of it, heard of auto-detection? how about putting that in so more of the end users time isn't wasted waiting for it to overwrite identical files or possibly even downgrading them to older versions.

You see, when I click the "Launch Game" button, I expect the game to simply - Start so I can play it, but instead it tries to shovel some gimmicky crap down my throat. The same kind of thing happens with GTAIV except you HAVE to install that Rockstar Failclub otherwise the game refuses to start.

A very bad start. I don't see many jumping on the bandwagon to help you out.

Bandwagon, sorry, what? Are you the type of guy that supports Securom even though it's been proved time and time over that it is completely useless, are you the type of guy that doesn't mind if a companies support service says something like "buy another copy since you haven't gave us enough proof, bye", are you the type of person who doesn't mind companies trying to FORCE install crapware onto your PC without you being able to choose?

This is a Rant and I know alot of people feel the same way (seriously, if you can defend the garbage that game developers have been forcing on us lately, it's pretty obvious you are connected to them in some way or another) whether or not they post, Developers should not be allowed to treat customers like this and I posted here so maybe one day a Developer will see this and try to give half a ***** to what a majority of people think.

I am one of the many who will only buy games if the developers appear to actually care about their customers, even if a game that really appealed to me was released - by a company like EA/Rockstar/Bioware and now Crytek, I would not buy it.

I have noticed over the past few years how PC Games have declined in quality greatly such as running like crap even on the best PC's and the developers excuse is "it's meant for future hardware...", is this some sort of stupid plan to push more people to consoles? It seems Valve are the only ones that actually give a damn.

Before you start going off about how Securom never gave YOU any problems, think of all the people who do have problems with it constantly, think of the people who format/change machine often, take a look at all those "underground" sites and notice how every single game ever made with Securom and any other "powerful copy-protection" is/was cracked on release or before release, Securom is a waste of a publishers money and image and I feel it's just been kept around to make more people move to Consoles.

Truth of the matter I don't care if it has DRM or not but this issue is brought up every single week and clearly the developers do not give a toss about all the complaints.
There really is no reason why you cannot just click and play you just got to know what you do not need to install. Just troll through the forums to get the best advice.

You must have pretty limited games huh? What developer actually seems to give a s**t about their customers?

As to your reference about "it's meant for future hardware...", yeah that was R* with GTAIV. I agree that they made huge mistakes with that one but it does work for some I guess but I don't think Valve should have taken that game.

As to the install limits, it cant be much of a problem when you can deactivate previous installed copies.

Look it is all about choice, I will make that choice if I feel the game will offer me something new and worthwhile. MMMmmm petty Warhead was a bit of a disappointment compared to the original but hey it was still good, I just should have bought it retail and not through Steam. Valve is one of those companies that does not give a toss for their customers.

It annoyed the crp out of me too, I have found a way to stop it.
Simply comment out the entries in the install.vdf found in
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\crysis or replace it with this one.
http://resistance-tester.com/gametoo...tallscript.vdf

If Crysis fails to load simply remove the // before the 2 entries.

//"DXSetup"
//"VCRedist"

You only need crappy (your words not mine) gamespy if you want to play MP. If like myself you don't usually MP don't install. Please don't whine. If you need to rant more than get help, well watch you blood pressure, but it ain't likely to change.
