I would like to back up not only my Team Fortress 2 game data, but the actual game files themselves (which Valve keep adding 100Mb updates twice a week). So if I need to reinstall at a later date, I wont need to download 15Gb of updates again.
Where should I look for these file/s? Thanks. |

k_wire was, however, asking for the game files which are needed to run the game. The aforementioned folder gets extracted from those [minus maps etc., of course]. These files are located with in {Steam}\steamapps and can be recognized by being named team fortress 2*.gcf, plus shared Source files named source*.gcf, plus [probably] multiplayer ob binaries.gcf and base source engine 2.gcf. But to be one the safe side you can always backup the game via the Steam Library by right-clicking on TF2. |

. It was a mistake, since I uninstalled TF2 10 mins after playing it back when I got Orange Box, I forgot that they use a different directory for it.

Heyyy, thanks jello & damaged. Found the files that are getting all the update gravy... team fortress 2 content.gcf is over 4Gb for example, and all the .gcf files have modified dates of June 4th. But I'm sure it would be best to back up the entire game via Steam Library.
As long as I am preserving any earlier updates so I don't have to dnld them again, then mission accomplished. Cheers! |

Can someone PLEASE tell me where the Faerie Solitaire game save is located? It won't save properly, and deleting the profile in game and starting over isn't fixing the problem. I'm pretty sure I need to delete the file, or perhaps at least untag it as "read-only" which I think likely happened to it at some point.

Close enough. Found it in C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Faerie Solitaire
Better than deleting the broken save, I was able to find my original save and get everything back. Back to almost 100% of the game! Thanks for the response! |

Can someone help me? I remember finding this program for Windows that is suppose to be able to automatically back up most of your Steam saves, but now I can't find it. Google has been no help unfortunately. Much rep if you can tell me what it is.
EDIT: I think this might be it: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawik...itle=Main_Page |
