Did you try the actual game's folder?

You mean the folder <Steam\steamapps\common\The Dig>?
I tried that one and also subfolders <Steam\steamapps\common\The Dig\DIG> and <Steam\steamapps\common\The Dig\DIG\VIDEO>.
I have a vague memory of the savegame files being under the <The Dig\DIG> subfolder at the installation folder of the non-Steam game I played years ago. However, none of the files under that folder present the standard name format "savegame.00X" (where X is the slot number).
I also tried revealing hidden files from the Control Panel, to no avail.

Can anybody help me with this one?

According to the database of SaveGameBackup.net, The Dig saves here: AppData\Roaming\LucasArts\The Dig.

But what is the root folder for <AppData>? I've looked for this folder all over and couldn't find it, even while using the search function.
It is possible I am mistaking it for another because my Windows runs in another language.

AppData is a hidden folder. It resides here: C:\Users\*user*\AppData.

But you can access it by typing %appdata% in the Run box.

Anyone know where Steam saves the list of games that you add to the Steam Library as "Non-Steam Games"? I had Minecraft, BF3 and more added (more to have all my games in one place for convenience than anything else) and Steam removed them all without notice, I would like to backup whatever file these are stored in if possible.

I think it might be winui.gcf.

No problem.

It could also be clientregistry.blob.

If it isn’t a .vdf file from the \config directory, it’s very likely somewhere in the Windows Registry.

This happened to me twice, once was because the directory was a symlink (this was during an update to the game), removing the link and letting it remake the directory fixed it, the other time I had to set permissions on the folder to allow "Everyone".

I posted a list of these on the General forum a few minutes ago, not knowing a thread already existed. I spent a bit of time putting them together and I'm really not wanting to go through and check the existing list and resulting multipage thread to see if these are on it, but I can confirm that these are all valid WIN XP paths for these games.
Please add them to the existing list if they're not on it, thanks.
