Steam not responding when attempting to log in
I've done the re installation thing, turned off all firewalls/anti virus programs etc but no matter what when I try to sign in it just freezes at the log in part and doesn't do anything. Anyone know how to fix this?

Navigate to your Steam folder(C:\Program Files\Steam by default) and delete file called Steam.dll.
Run Steam and wait until it updates fully than try logging in. |

Done but unfortunately it still does the same thing. This is only a new problem as it would work perfectly before, but this only came up in the last week

Try deleting all files from you Steam installation folder except Steam.exe and SteamApps folder.
Note: If you want to keep your favorite servers list make a backup copy of file serverbrowser.vdf located in C:\Program Files\Steam\config. (I assume you got Steam installed in C:\Program Files\Steam) |

I'm having the same problem...
I've waited months to get a game and then get Steam to play it.
I downloaded Steam a few hours ago, created my account, but every single time I open it and go to log on it goes to 'not responding'. Talk about an anti-climax

Fixed it. Did a completely fresh install, as per these instructions:
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/w...stalling_Steam After putting my steamapps back in, it still didn't work - so I deleted ClientRegistry.blob and things seemed to work. Just deleting that file without the fresh install didn't, however. Very odd. |

Bump......
A fresh install does not fix this issue. After entering my account information the login screen just freezes. Steam.exe shows not responding in the task manager. I had this same issue using Vista, I read on these forums that upgrading to windows 7 would fix this issue. I upgraded to Win7 and it has the same exact issue. I currently have erased everything steam related including Reg keys, the only thing left is the installer I just downloaded from steampowered.com. When I run It, it installs and updates like it should. When I go to login, it freezes and Steam.exe does not respond. Contacting steam Support did not help, they sent me the usual uninstall steam fix. Can ANYONE help with this issue? |

Same problem here. Did a fresh install after having connection issues, and now freeze it login screen.
