Windowed mode

How would I play the game in windowed mode, it doesn't look too pretty at 1280x1024, so I wanted to play the game windowed smaller, like 1024x768 so I could be on aim and whatever while playing.

I can't even get the game to startup. I pre-ordered for $10 last night and now im sad =(

I want to know if theres a way i can go into config and set it to windowed mode. I usually play at 1650x1050 at 120hz. I even change my resolution to 800x600 @ 60hz and it doesnt even start-up...

The funny thing is... Heavy Weapon Deluxe does the SAME FKING THING! Noone will help me =( i'm just a far cry.

In the demo the was an option in the menu.

Im trying to find where the settings are stored. Doesn't appear to be in the user folder as when you delete the user data it still starts my game windowed so it must have my settings.

Anyone know?

The config for PLants vs zombies is in the registry.

This is from XP, steam version of the game, I imagine vista is similar tho:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SteamPopCap\PlantsVsZom bies]

This is from XP popcap non-steam version of the game:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PopCap\PlantsVsZombies]

This should be the variable to run in windowed:
"ScreenMode"=dword:00000000

The screenmode is 1 for full screen, and 0 for window.

Its vista compatible, I'm sure they tested it on vista too.

Did you check the registry (you can search for PLANTS or POPCAP) to see if there was something you could change like I mentioned? I know that vista has a registry and that it has a regedit program just like XP, but perhaps the location of that setting was changed in vista.

Anyway, you should be able to google up information about editing registry in vista, and then do a search for it inside the registry.

Unless you say more about what you did or didn't do, or your expertise, we can't know how to help you more. Thats why I asked if it worked above.

For instance, it may be possible to create a .reg file to automatically change this and you just click on it, if you don't know how to do regedit and windows registry.

I have the same problem and i cant play the game, when it starts it says "popcapgame1.exe stop working", i am trying to follow the instruction above but i cant find the "ScreenMode"=dword:00000000 (or i have to created?)

Btw DvD_Playa do u have the 3d nvidia googles? because i have the same configuration in my lcd 1650x1050 and 120hz and i was thinking that maybe this is causing the problem.

You never answered any of the questions about if you tried the registry thing (or if you need help with it) to change to windowed before starting the game lol. We can't help you man unless you talk a little more lol.
