Cannot contact the Steam Network, please try later - Steam down?
I accidentally closed my Steam when I meant to close something else, and now whenever I try to launch it, it does the "downloading updates" thing, doesn't go past 0%, and gives me the error in the title. Is steam down?
Edit: Deleting ClientRegistry.blob seemed to fix it. Odd. Last edited by Scottc1988: 05-20-2009 at 06:04 AM. |

Me too, just trying to launch TFC and I've noticed that Steam's been seeming to have general server problems for the last few days... pages timing out left right and center... not good for a digital distributor/DRMer...
removing/renaming client.blob in the Steam app directory seems to have fixed my steam client problems. http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...d.php?t=872215 Last edited by cutterjohn: 05-23-2009 at 09:27 AM. |

This is extra troublesome for me because I just bought Killing Floor and it wont let me download it.
For an analogy image if you went down to the game store and paid for a game then instead of handing you your game they go "The storage room is busy. Try again in a few minutes" |

Probably because of the TF2 weekend that's going on, but who knows. I had to reinstall Steam onto my new format over the weekend and I can't get any games at the current moment apart from a few I've got on disk (HL2 etc.)
Hoping it comes back up soon but. |

Same problem. Went down around 9am PST for me. Online distribution networks are fine until they go down and you can't play any of the stuff you bought.

Same here. The Steam beta completely failed so I have to reinstall all my games but download and "restore from backup" are failing me and I am just continually told my ticket has expired and asked to re-enter my Steam password.

Sounds just about on the mark mate. I woke up the morning however and things have been OK since, so I'm not sure. Hoping it clears up for you guys soon.

Am experiencing this problem as well, even tried reinstalling Steam altogether but no success.
It works perfectly on my laptop though - same account, same network settings and everything. |

Same problem here and it's been like it for quite a while now.
This is why Im glad I stopped buying games on Steam because of EU prices. Just too bad I still enjoy playing TF2. Way too weak an architecture when an overload at a single point can result in ALL of your customers not being able to play any of their games. Please rectify this situation as soon as possible Valve! |
