Unkown Steam error?

I looked this error up on google, but I could not find anything about it

Steam.exe (main exception): Unable to start Steam Engine: *SteamStartEngine() failed with error 1: Unknown internal error occured - ?

It started occuring after I restarted Steam for the beta client.

Same Problem here!
After applying the client candidate, Steam immediatly crashes after I wanna start it.
The Error Message "Steam.exe (main exception): Unable to start Steam Engine: *SteamStartEngine() failed with error 1: Unknown internal error occured - ?" only appeared the first time, when I wanna start steam now, it only says "Steam.exe occured an error. Do you want to send the Dump to microsoft?" (I dont know how exactly the message is in english, I am german and tryed to translate it! )

*edit1*

The timing is even perfekt, I wanted to play Team Fortress 2 today - I think I can forget that...
Team Fortress 2 is only available for 2.5 Days from now on, but I only got time to play today!

*edit2*

If some one will say "Delete clientregistry.blob, steamUI.dll and steam.dll..." - I deletet all those files, after that steam updates...
But then the same error as unpon occures.
Because steam is updating to the client candidate I signed in...
Is it possible to get today an Update that fixes that?
Or better - is it possible to sign out from the client candidate by editing a steamfile?

*edit3*

OK i fixed it lol
Open the registryeditor and delete the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam\Beta"
After that delete steam.dll and clientregistry.blob from the steam directory.
Start steam, it will "update" to the old version without the client candidate!
And it will work now!

Have you tried the following?

Quote:
To get the current client back:

- Delete winui.gcf from Steamapps
- Start > Run > type regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam and delete "Beta"
- Run Steam.exe
