anyone had experience with...AMD 7-Series Chipsets Disk Performance Utility?

Just wondering, I've got a Gigabyte MA790X-UD4P and i'm not sure if I do see a performance upgrade.

I was always under the impression it simply activates the advanced ondisk write caching. The same can be done through windows device manager/disk drives/properties/yourdisk/policies.

If I'm wrong I'd certainly like to know. I don't have a backup Power supply so I'm not about to use it.
