I don't know why, but currently my Steam takes one minute to start up. But the weird thing is that my processor isn't loaded at all it's starting up. It's probably some connection thing or something.

I restarted steam right after it finished updating to the beta... it was near instant! like... The task-tray icon showed up nearly the instant I double clicked it, and the storefront was up in less than 6 seconds!

Thanks, I'm fixing these. The ban message is triggered by a bug server side, so that will get fixed when we update the server code next. The scrolling is client side and we'll have a beta update for it soon.

I just tested it and the first thing I saw was a GREAT improvement in the startup speed, it started more than twice as fast. Good job

I never saw any actual bugs regarding UAC reported, just complaints that a few games require running as admin. It's really out of our control that some non Valve games require running as admin.

Updating now. Dunno if this the right channel for feature requests but i have one:

A way to disable a secondary monitor automatically when starting a game from steam. (and ofc. enable it when the game closes) It's really helps frame rate a lot. Now i just disable through ultramon, but would be a great feature.

downloaded new steaminstall.msi , it's updating 2hours? when I type my username and password its not responding...

Hey, I just noticed... around the same time-frame that this beta became available, a few BethSoft title's prices mysteriously rose. Anybody else notice that?

Sometimes in Fallout 3, Steam overlary is not working in this beta.

I'm sure I'm stating the obvious, but do you know about the 'runas' trick, that allows you to launch a program and prompt for administrator rights (at least under Vista)?

You could maybe do something like that to have Vista prompt for admin rights on certain games, even when Steam was not started as administrator.
