Anno Series vs. The Settlers Series

I am curious how the two series compare. I have just played the demos so I haven't been able to get too deep into the games. I am primarily interested in the Settlers Pack on Steam, 1701 and 1404.

they're both very similar to each other actually. the most significant difference may be that in the anno series you get to control a ship from the beginning and you kinda explore the world and try to find the best island to build your city. once you found that island you gotta explore more islands to get all your recources so that your settlers can get better.

in the settlers series however it's all about settling on the land. there are no ships and ocians are just for scenery.

i personally prefer the anno series because the endless game type works much better than the skirmish gametype in the settlers series. you're also gonna get somehow better graphics and a better atmosphere out of anno in my opinion. the settlers however got multiplayer which you wont get from anno 1404, anno 1701 has multiplayer though.

I played both the Settlers series and the Anno series. My preference goes to Anno, but it's good to switch from time to time. You should wait for a good package deal!

Anno definetly, it just feels like settlers is locked to 1 world, while in Anno you got several islands to colonize. Its just more fun imo

Its almost like a space game where you colonize planets LOL

The Settlers are nothing compared to Anno, especially when talking about the latest releases...

The Settlers can be qualified as a RTS game, while Anno is a City Builder/Economic game. And the best one to date for that matter...

Can't wait for expansions, I'm personally rooting for more civilizations...
