You buy diplomatic scrolls from lord Northbrough at his warehouse and then send it over to the grand vizier.

You earn "honor" through various means - mainly you'll get honor from doing quests and from hitting milestones in your city-building, although you can also buy it for cash directly from the NPCs in the diplo screen and you can gain it by building a tourney field and holding tournaments (which also cost cash). Your current available honor is displayed next to your cash.
All the things on the second row at the NPC's warehouses costs honor. You can only see tabs for up to your highest civilization level, and even once you can see higher-level tabs they will start out locked. Unlocking levels of stuff (past the first one) can be done either on their warehouse screen or on the "attainments" page. These unlocks cost honor. Lord N has a "gift" scroll available in increasing denominations at each level. You buy these scrolls with honor and take them to the Grand Vizir to gain "prestige". You need prestige to unlock availability of all the oriental buildings, ships, etc. Your current prestige is shown by the little icons and the bar under the Grand Vizir's portrait when you talk to him. Note that when you buy one scroll it takes a while to get replaced, so just waiting to buy a bunch of the lowest-level ones becomes impractical once you are needing 1000+ for the next prestige level. |
