The worst voice acting ever...

... is not in Zeno Clash. Check this out.

http://www.gamegrep.com/news/10646-t...ucks_so_badly/

Right, and I want to add that I did not think the voices in ZC was that bad. At some times they were certainly less than good but overall, it could be worse.

However, if I'm going to be a little constructive and tell you my thoughts... much or most of Daedras lines, the mother by the ocean and the women in the bar comes into mind as plain bad ones that talk a lot. Personally I did not like the Hunter, it's not that the voice acting is that bad, it's just that I don't think his voice and his constant whining really fits him. Could just be me though.

Also, I would like to know if you ever bothered your actors with any retakes or if you just pretty much went with the first best line, since I'm assuming you guys paid these actors little, if anything and I'm also assuming you also used a good amount of family members or friends like they guy in the link, although I prefer your actors... a lot.

There's TONS of worse voice acting, even in a game like Deus Ex you can spot some bad acting. Shadowgrounds, a game that I like as much as Zeno Clash, have some very bad voice acting, much worse than ZC.

But yeah, there's always room for improvement. IMO Deadra's voice acting was kinda bad, because she say her lines without a drop of emotion. But! It isn't so big of a deal, I applaud the effort and understand the circustances of the developers. And I liked Ghat, F-M and a few others voice acting, actually.

Baten Kaitos for the Gamecube also had horrific voice acting, which made me really sad since the intro video originally shown at E3 to promote the game had a different voice cast that was actually good. I actually thought that they probably did something similar to what Chaos Wars did, which was fire the professional voice actors to let the developers and their friends phone in the audio at the last minute.

I've enjoyed what I've heard so far in Zeno Clash, though I did have to turn on subtitles to try to understand one of the enemies you face in the game and better understand what Metamoq is saying.

Haha, yes, the NPCs with accents was hilarious. Like the French bum with her cats, mumbling about "green greasels" or that Chinese news paper kid (or maybe he just hanged out by the news stand, what do I know) that just made you wanting to somehow strangle him with his own vocal cords. Actually, all the Chinese and French accents were crazy bad.

I would say the voice acting was good.
I mean they are the small team and if you think of the quality this game offers i don't think you can call anything in this game bad.
Maybe a missing Multiplayer but i don't expect to get that for a price like Zeno Clash is selling for.
So just wait for Zeno Clash 2 and i think there will be much improvment on every stage of the game.

We went through many re-takes and a lot of characters sounded horrendous during the development process. We even went through full re-recording of some characters (up to 2 times). I started out as Ghat and sucked at it, but my 'performance' helped a lot when we had to tell Eric the emotions of the character in specific scenes.

The voice acting is far from perfect (some characters are a lot better than others), but considering our extremely limited budget and our situation, I think we delivered something very acceptable. Some reviews even stated the voice acting was "surprisingly good". Considering ZC is an indie Chilean game, I think we did pretty good.

I said it before but notheless...

All voices were fine / good / acceptable.
Except the Hunter. The first time I heard him I thought he'd be a ... on crack, bored to death with too much self esteem..
Later in the melee fight, according to his dress, he IS a ... on crack...

I liked the Hunter's voice a lot, actually :P

The only voice I had a problem with was Onpa, and only since he was difficult to understand with his mumbled way of speaking. The taunts thrown at you before the first fight with Onpa, Rimat, and Gastornis had a few lines that I couldn't decipher, which made me decide to turn on subtitles. I still need to go back and do that fight again to see what exactly they said that I couldn't understand.

Even though I had a hard time deciphering Onpa's speech at certain points in the game, I still wouldn't say the voice acting was bad. Onpa has his mind set on mumbling, and that is just what he will do.

For my two cents, I really liked Ghat's voicing, and I really really liked Rimat's. I liked most of the animalistic voices, and I also appreciated Golem's. And although she didn't have much to say, I liked the pipe lady's, as well. Father-Mother's voice was also appropriately unsettling...

I thought the voice acting was very good, except for a few lines without emotion, but that's only being nit-picky. Great job!

Yeah, I thought Zeno Clash had some pretty good acting. Not as good as Valve games or anything, but much better than Shadowgrounds, for example (a really good game though, along with Trine, check them out). Deus Ex has much worse acting than Zeno Clash, but that was one of the greatest games of all time.

"A bomb!"

How is that? There were only about 4 or 5 speaking roles in that game (I don't remember if Phil talks at all in that one) and none of them seemed bad at all.

Clarence, Amabel, the Tuurngait mind, and the mad doctor. They all seemed fine.
