Lightbulb 7Wonders2 Work-around

I have a HP - Pavilion Elite e9220y Desktop PC with a 2.6GHz AMD Phenom II X4 910 64-bit quad-core processor (w/2MB L2 cache memory), 8GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM, an ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics card (w/512MB DDR2 RAM) and running Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system (New Build 7600).

When I tried to install 7Wonders2, I recieved an error message stating "Operating System not Supported". So I changed the compatibility setting of the installation file to "Windows XP Service Pack 2" and then it installed just fine.

When I tried to launch 7Wonders2, I recieved a "Range check error". So I ran "MSConfig", clicked on the "Boot" tab, opened "Advanced Options" and checked the box for "Maximum Memory", then set the value to 4096 (4GB), rebooted the PC and then lauched 7Wonders2 again and it worked perfectly.

This is not a fix, it is merely a work-around that I found which worked for me. I hope this helps others as well.

I would also like to note that prior to Windows 7, I was running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit on the same system and 7Wonders2 installed and ran perfectly with no problems and without having to use the above mentioned work-around.

I just sent another mail and asked why the good and working version still was not sent to steam. I hope I can give you an update soon

edit: Fast one :>
I just got an answer:

Hello,

...but it sounds like Steam just isn’t posting the new version, though they do have it.

Sure, all games on steam are up to date, except 7 wonders II. but they really have the newest version, they just do not release it because they are evil... O.o

today i tried to start 7 wonders II again after several months, and it worked!

i don't know what changed (game-, windows-, or gfx driver update maybe?) but maybe it will work for you too

Fix worked fine for me on my windows 7 64bits

To make it work I had to go to change the .exe compatibility mode who was set to windows 98, this compatibility didn't work but the windows xp compatibility mode did work very well.

So thanks a lot for the fix !

Also wanted to belatedly offer my thanks for this. I've just picked up 7W2 off the MumboJumbo pack sale, and I had the same problem.

So, thanks!

The (above) posted fix by IvanDoomer still works over 2 years on. The vanilla Steam version of this game will not work without it on Win7 64.

Thanks - the game is vibrant beautiful and fun

EDIT: - The Treasures of Seven works straight off the bat with Win7 64 & GTX 460 4Gb Mem

Where exactly are the game files located? I keep looking for them and, so far, the only thing I've found is the internet shortcut for 7 Wonders II.
