Play Responsibly Club

~ Left 4 Dead Play Responsibly Club ~

I've seen so many complaints and moaning about the quality of games with public, and the public players themselves.

Some players dont have as many friends who play L4D and some dont want to join proper teams for scrims and matches, which is why the Play L4D Responsibly club exists.

It was set up a few months ago, and by now has reached 750+ members. We used to have a thread but its lost by now, so i thought i'd start this thread to help people get proper games.

Most of the members dont join the chat, i assume they have just joined the group for the hell of it which is silly, but theres a hardcore 30+ of us that regularly join in the chat and get some games going together. At the moment, we can get 2 versus games going at the same time each night, but some members end up being left out, which is the point of this thread, to get more in the group and more games going.

I, and many of my friends in the group, have not played a public game since this group was set up, because the quality of games we have together are so great. We are responsible and good gamers, no ragequitting, no voice spamming, no team killing, no flaming, and so on.

We are looking for...
  1. People who stick with the team on expert coop and survivor versus, and strategize ambushes as infected versus.
  2. People who are more concerned with the team than their own personal score.
  3. People who are there to have fun, and don't take the game too seriously. By that, I mean they play respectfully: if you get mauled in versus, you type "wp" as opposed to hurl insults or racist remarks.
  4. People who are not inclined to be elitist, and votekick someone who is trying, but learning.
  5. People who are willing to play with those with and without mics, or are willing to be aware enough to play well without a mic.

*Thanks to doberle/ReverendO*

Important: Make sure you jump in the chatroom as much as you can because that is where we form the games and try to get players, we wont invite you simply if your online/in game and in the group, you'll have to join the chat.

Any questions, add steam id kyran4578, game name is Cheezburger.

TL;DR Click that link if your tired of playing with annoying pubs.

****EDIT****

I've seen a few posts on various things that i'd like to explain about.

Firstly, admins are here for a reason. If you dont like what someone has been doing in a game, whether it be ragequitting, continiously whining, hacking, griefing, or whatever, let it be known to an admin! I (Cheezburger) can be found in the chatroom most of the time if you have a problem with someone.

Secondly, while we encourage fair play, the PRC does NOT see rock sniping as the tank or rushing as the survivors as exploiting. Dont even bother complaining about these things because you will just look silly.

And finally, another thing we encourage is fair teams. If one team is being rolled by the other, its PRC policy that the teams should be balanced. However, do not expect a team balance if for example, your tank has just incapped a survivor and then died, and their tank takes down your whole team. Do not expect a balance if your team has just narrowly managed to reach the first safe room and the other team breezed towards it. Wait another round or two to see if things peak up, if not, then suggest a team swap. If the opposing team rejects a team balance, report them to an admin.

I can't emphasise enough the importance of coming into the chatroom. We usually start games about 8pm GMT, and if we have enough, we'll have more than one. We have at least 3 servers as well used solely for the group.

Please do join if you want to play with friendly people who enjoy a bit of teamwork.

Feel free to add me too, Scuba3151 is Steam id, Exhorresco is game name.

The chatroom's pretty good like Ex said, sometimes we even arrange games in there :P.

Seriously though, makes the game a lot more fun - no rage quitting on either side, preference for balance over rolling the other team and a generally sound group to play with.

Now Cheez can't hurt me o.o

I'll probably hop into the group. Can't always play with my team because we're not all on at the same time every day.

I'd be happy to allow use of our CEVO config server, provided I'm present during the game.

I also frequent the chat room (but without the fancy characters) and am very pleased with the group

I'll second what has been said here and i certainly find the quality of the games arranged from this chat to be second to none, i occasionly put on my armour and go public, but its nowhere near as good as a PRC game.

Not only do we get good games, but a few of us run our own servers, so anyone that does come in causing trouble are dealt with very quickly

so, come and join the fun! - i cant remember the last votekick on a griefer!

Hey guys, thanks for putting this together.

A few days ago I joined the chat to try it out and got in a game within minutes.

It was the first time I played an entire game, all 4 campaigns and what a blast we had. I almost forgot I was playing L4D because there was not one single problem the entire game. In fact, when we had a afk, we all waited and continued on.
Half way through we realized it was a little unbalanced and 2 players swapped teams and almost all volunteered.Guys worked together as a team and helped others as well.
It was refreshing to play with 7 other people being mature. Making the game, for me, an entirely new experience and a whole lot of fun.

Thanks Play Responsibly Club for showing how easy it is to have to much fun!
My L4D player name is Pickle

Another fantastic game last night, we always randomize the teams completely, to try and keep it balanced. My team won by about 30 points.

Welcome to the new members, and dont forget to join the chat as often as you can

For historic purpose, if you would like to see the post that started us off (and a little more on what we are about), here it is:

Ahoy,
I am an old guy - my peers don't play computer games (save my brother). So my L4D friends list is sparse, comprised of a few random people that I played well with on pub coop and versus games.
My pub problems are the same as others: team-killers, rage-quitters, mic spammers, callvote spammers, elitists and griefers.
My proposed solution is this: build a network of friends that play well, so that I (we) can make friend-only servers that can be filled up easily.

For my own personal friends network, I am looking for:

1) People who stick with the team on expert coop and survivor versus, and strategize ambushes as infected versus.

2) People who are more concerned with the team than their own personal score.

3) People who are there to have fun, and don't take the game too seriously. By that, I mean they play respectfully: if you get mauled in versus, you type "nice pull" as opposed to hurl insults or racist remarks.

4) People who are not inclined to be elitist, and votekick someone who is trying, but learning.

5) People who are willing to play with those with and without mics, or are willing to be aware enough to play well without a mic.

[EDIT -> NEW]
Thanks to RichT, there is now a group for you to join through Steam:

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/L4DPRC

Pickup games can be organized in the chat room. In your Steam Friends list, click the down arrow to the right of the L4D Play Responsibly entry, then "Join group chat room".

It has only been up for a few days and the numbers of members is well over 200. <EDIT: now over 700>
We welcome anyone that wants to play to have fun, but play to win, with class, responsibility and respect for the other players.

Kind Regards,

Rev. Dr. Douglas R Oberle (L4D ID: ReverendO)
