Nvidia GeForce 8600GT = Good Graphics Card?
Ive been eyeing a GeForce 8600GT but I don't wanna waste 50 bucks for it to be crap. So I came here to ask the awesome steam community if you have had any experiences and would recommend this card to me.

Well if you look at the specs and price i would say no... but baron probably recommended it because of ATI's bang for the buck, so basically its a better card for a little more money. id say its a very good alternative unless your set on that 8600gt lol

I've got a 8600GTS(just alittle better than the 8600GT), and they are fine for running the HL2/Source graphics engine...nothing stellar or anything, but it will work much better than your 6100 on-board video
I think now they have updated the 8600GT to the 9500GT ..heres the 32SP GeForce 9 series cards with DDR3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...e=&srchInDesc= i don't know if a 9400GT with DDR2 is any better than a 8600GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130471 a GeForce 9600 GT Low Power card with 64SP would be next up http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130485 but I personally like the performance of the 96SP 9600GSO much better than all the other cards in this price range http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121320 ..but its a big long full sized card, and needs some more power from the PSU |

A 9400GT is probably a respun 8400GT. *shudder*
Strangely, 9600 GTs with 64 sps are supposed to be faster than 9600 GSOs with 96 sps. |
