Plasma is a HUGE power hog, get an lcd.
You will get the same frame rates on any monitor ![]() 1080p/720p ect... refers to the resolution of the tv. 1080p is 1920 x 1080. You will need some beasty graphics power to play games at that res. Last edited by renegadeafk: 09-26-2009 at 06:32 AM. |

The only part of your monitor that should affect frame rates is the resolution.
(Although some monitors are limited at a certain amount eg 60Hz or 75Hz however usually 60Hz is plenty) PS what kind of FPS are you getting? Last edited by Mudkipz: 09-26-2009 at 07:08 AM. |

My refresh rate on my monitor is 60Hz the resalution is set to highest witch is 1680x1050 if my monitor was 75Hz then maybe i can get 1080 is that why i get more frame rates on my plasma? So what you are saying is if i had 75Hz on my monitor then it would put me in the same range as my plasma

The ONLY thing that will affect your frame rates is the resolution you are running.

Just like what others are saying, only thing that reflects fps is RESOLUTION! You're getting more frames on the plasma because you didn't set the correct 1920x1080 resolution in-game. If you want to run a constant 120fps, then get a 120Hz TV and be done with it. |

High resolution = better image quality = better experience
But it does result in lower fps obviously, so you need the rig that can handle it. |

Just to throw some things out there:
Native resolution is what counts, it should say somewhere on the box or product manual. If you set the resolution higher than that it may just upscale your image giving you a fake high-res that doesn't use more FPS than the native. TVs (such as plasmas) are notorious upscalers, so thats why performance is better on them.. Refresh rate will limit your FPS if you have Vsync on. You really don't need a framerate over 60 anyway, our eyes cant keep up with computer displays. |
