I doubt that CSS actually supports Win7.

restart?

try deleting the problem file "scenefilecache.dll"

if it is needed steam will automatically redownload it.

I'm getting the same problem.

Was working one day, now it just crashes constantly upon opening the game.

I looked in the bin directory and don't appear to even have a .dll file by the name of scenefilecache.dll

I am getting that error too. Half-life 2 and the games using the Orangebox engine work fine. CSS and Insurgency are crashing with the scenefilecache.dll error. The only way to fix it is to disable the second monitor or reduce the resolution in the affected games.

Workaround

This bug seems to affect multimonitor systems under Windows 7 only.

The following workaround works fine for me:
- Navigate to your SteamApps folder (usually "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\[Username]\counter-strike source")
- Right click the "hl2.exe"
- On the compatibility tab check the checkbox "Disable Desktop composition" and apply the changes
- Now start CSS as usual

I wrote to the support, too. They, however, don't seem to be interested in solving this problem.
According to them, they DO support Windows 7.

Thanks, that worked for me too. Far easier than having to disable then second monitor every time I want to play CSS.

Works again

Not sure why it just randomly stopped working one day, but this fixed it

I don't have windows 7 yet but am going to for free soon, but this stopped working for me randomly friday. I guess I'll try the solution you gave.

Nope still won't work.
