CD Key is not valid

Whenever I try and join a server I get "Your CD-key is not valid".
Any fixes?

Make sure your CD-key is valid?

Go to: run->regedit-hkey_local_machine-software-Electronic Arts-EA Games-Battlefield 2-ergc->change data to x9392YYYYYYYYYYY, where YYYYY is your CD-key WITHOUT dashes.

It should look like x9392A1B2C3D4E5...etc.
IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE there is no blank space after the key string. Delete it if there is or you will get CD-key invalid.

I opened it up and it is all blank. Does the steam version suposed to come with a cd key? Mine never did for some reason to my knolage.

Try validating game cache files. Failing that, contact Steam Support.

I have exactly the same problem, except by CD key does exist in the registry (the x9392YYYYYYYYYYY business).

Here the solution: seek for EAregister.exe in your folder ..\Steam\steamapps\common\battlefield 2\support, then click on it and follow the instructions. After that, you can play the game.
Note: you must have a EA account.

I found the EAregister.exe file, I created an EA account but I can't seem to register my game. It says "Unable to connect to site" and then "Internet send failed".

My Internet is fine, in-fact I just created an EA accounting using the EAregister.exe application, however I can't seem to start the "Register Game"

Thanks super, I just ran the exe and went through the wizard and registered it. Great

Classified, it registered fine for me. Maybe your firewall is blocking EA.

No, I even tried disabling my firewall and it didn't work out.
However I registered my game over the web, and it worked out somehow..

But there is a new problem. Regular BF2 works fine however when I launch the BF2: Special Forces, I get this error when I try to join a server
"Your cd-key installed with the Battlefield 2: Special Forces expansion pack is not valid, to purchase a real copy of Battlefield 2: Special Forces press the button below. [Go To Website button]"

BS! I just did purchase a real copy of BF2: SF

Edit:
I don't know if it has anything to do with registering the game but when I ran the game as computer admin, it worked fine and all the invalid cd-key errors are gone.

I only suffer of random server disconnectings, claiming "lost connection server"

Probably a firewall issue?
