Steam Journalist accounts?

So it looks like there are Steam Journalists accounts that get ALL games for FREE as soon as they are released.

Yea, so? Gaming sites get sent FREE games BEFORE they are released for the purposes of reviewing the game, this is just Steam's version of it basically. (and this is not new, been around for a while)

It is part of their job. The fairness is easily balanced by studying journalism and looking for employment at one of these sites.

This was JUST discussed. This is simply the way games journalism works. Journalists always get review copies.

And no, they don't give press accounts to every hack with a two-bit gaming blog that gets 10 readers per week. No doubt, you have to apply for the press accounts, and display legitimate journalistic credentials.

Movie reviewers get free movie tickets, and can often get copies of the movie on DVD, at the same time they hit theaters, if they prefer. Car magazines don't pay for all of their test drive machines. Et cetera, et cetera.

You could say the same with the valve guys then.
as gabe and the rest prob have every game as well.

Also you don`t write reviews for them to get more publicity,so no free games for you.

Also It`s cheaper to give a reviewer a free game than pay him a back hander for a good review. :P

People have problem with THAT? Seriously now. Steam has its issues but it is hardly one of them.

Nothing new here at all, developers/publishers usually send out copies of their games prior to their release to journalists for the purposes of reviewing anyway. Its standard procedure in the industry.

But if you check out the accounts, they dont play allmost at all.

Theres nothing to envy, they HAVE to play a game assigned to them, ofcourse they play for fun, but they have seperate accounts for themselves, (I think).
