Falling 300,000 feet achievement.
Falling 300,000 feet achievement. Set up portal one directly above the other. Now drop into the portal. If alligned properly you will keep falling into the same portal. Leave live this for 5 - 10 minutes to get "Terminal Velocity" achievement.

I didn't know. But achievements don't work on the PC so I'd have no reason to think about it.

Yeah they do, you have to be logged in though and not running offline or in commentary mode. HL2 and e1 don't have achievements, but e2 and portal do.

90% don't care to do something that isn't fun, and that takes awhile for an achievement that does nothing for gameplay in any way.

Yeah, I also think that petercrab5 is a bit late to the party, I'm afraid. Besides, it's 30,000 feet, not 300,000, and everyone knows that you use the massive pit in test chamber 18 (as I recall - could be 17 or 19) to do it, since it's easier to align yourself that way, rather then if it's in a regular room

Truth is, the only way an achievement is worth getting for me, is if it's, you know, fun and worth the effort. Like Half Life 2: Episode 2's race against dog, 'Pedal to the Medal'. Short, fun, not necessarily simple. Setting up the game to play itself for a few minutes? Not so much. Any achievement you can get by leaving the room entirely isn't deserving of the title 'achievement', ironic that it requires no skill.
I don't want to get an achievement for doing nothing, I want to take pride in it, knowing I accomplished a difficult scenario. Sorry that you think each achievement, no matter how trivial or simple, shows your elite skills. I prefer my achievements to mean something, rather than getting an achievement for playing the game like I should be. Contradicts itself in a way. |
