Portal: Aperture Deja Vu

Aperture Dèjá vu
It is a non-linear map which have many paths to take and reach the end. The point is, that you play a map one time and you are happy. Then you have a little break in Portal, because there aren't any new released maps for some time. But the answer is here: play the Deja-Vu again, but choose a different path with different puzzles. You can choose freely the way that is going to lead you to the end. Thats it!

------------------------------

This Version is not entirely final.
The sound/voice isn't added. Too bad i can't get it to work and didn't have the time to take a look at it.
The chapters aren't locked. If you want to start playing from the last chapter, go ahead...
I think you guys will start from the begining, anyway.

I have worked very hard for this project.
I really hope that you guys will enjoy this mod.
A new version will come later...

------------------------------

Features:

* Level design similar to the original Portal style
* Level difficulty is balanced, like the original
* Jumping pads
* Gravity
* Red lasers
* Moving box-droppers
* Floor lifts
* Bridges
* Non-linear
* Easter eggs (in every chamber)
* New blue suit
* Boss battle

------------------------------

Installation:
To install, follow these steps...

1. Extract the downloaded file somewhere on your desktop.

2. Copy the Aperture Deja Vu folder and paste it into the Steam's SourceMods path.
You can find it here: .../Steam/SteamApps/SourceMods/

3. Log in to Steam and you can find the mod under your installed Games list.

4. Play and enjoy!

If you encounter any bugs or want to give feedback, feel free to send an e-mail.

Looks good, but you used noclip in the trailer when recording, right?

You should use the build-in Source Demo-Recorder. You can make some really cool camera turn-effects with it. Lots of stuff to explain. Try googling it.

I'm already stumped at the first left door... o.o I must suck. I'm sure there is a very clever but obvious thing that I'm missing lol.

I downloaded it and finished one path in under two hours. The antigravity chamber was really difficult, though, and I may not have gotten past it the way I was supposed to.

Okay, I feel like a noob. Guess I am, since I've never done a mod before...

I download the RAR file, then try to extract it with WinZip. All it "extracts" is the RAR file itself, no subfiles. Do I need to buy WinRAR if I want to try this mod?

It's not a zip file. Download winrar, but you don't have to pay for it. It just reminds you that you're a schmuck if you don't But it opens everything up just fine. Myself, I wish people would just stick to winzip but hey. Whatever

I think all things like that should be free anyway, like Acrobat Reader has been for eons and like PowerPoint (viewer) finally became. In a case like this I don't mind being told I'm a schmuck--it's almost like GlaDOS asking if it bothered you that you lied about your favorite color.

Wherever I found the RAR info, it said that WinRAR essentially has more bells & whistles than WinZip, etc.

I got a couple errors...

After downloading, I got: Unexpected end of archive

After extracting, I got: CRC failed in Aperture Deja Vu\sound\Deja vu\THA-02-cyclical_chambers.mp3. The file is corrupt

and Unexpected end of archive

I'd like to play this, and I suppose I could always copy it to SourceMods and try it. But I don't want it to mess things up and have to reinstall Portal...

Sourcemods isn't where the portal stuff is. You should be running it from there just like he says

My question isn't about where to put it. I'm concerned about the corrupt file and unexpected end of archive errors.

It sounded like you were trying to run it from somewhere other than /sourcemods/ though. I'd just try redownlading and reinstalling it.

Better than winrar or winzip is 7zip. I can;t remember where to find it - just run a google search. It's never failed to extract anything for me, regardless of compression style, with the exception of torrents.

@ Dark - Thanks. Dowloaded, will try installing & extracting later.

@ Zekiran - I haven't even tried to run the mod, I just downloaded then extracted, which is where I got the errors.
