Correct ports to forward

There has been a list of ports going around that was stated should be forwarded in order to host the game. The comprehensive list is:
3783 (Voice Chat Port)
27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
28900 (Master Server List Request)
29900 (GP Connection Manager)
29901 (GP Search Manager)
13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
6515 (Dplay UDP)
6500 (Query Port)
7777 (TCP/UDP)

Thanks to MrSamurai for the tip

Played for about 8 hours tonight on my host with absolutely no issues. Forwarded the correct ports, and off we went.

Could not host or join my friend's game when I started. I then forwarded all those ports and was able to host with no problems.

ok, I'm a noob for these things (really, it's nearly amazing)

I have Vista, so i tried to go in my internet options (not in browser). I arrived to a page with a lot of ports (or numbers ), and then I decided to "Create" the required ports.

....will it blend?

It's how Unreal Engine 3 rolls. It's always had bad netcode, but it's the price you pay for the nice graphics.

This would be a lot less painful if the programmers decided to use upnp to open the ports instead of letting users do it manually.

if you're having issues hosting servers, this thread has a good solution:

1) Create private game
2) Invite friend, let him time out completely
3) Exit private lobby, remake, invite, play!
